LHRIC Celebrates Success of Rockland School District
Kindergarten
students at Gerald Neary Elementary School in the Haverstraw-Stony
Point School District in Rockland County have made substantial progress
in reading, in addition to receiving
a national award, thanks to a successful partnership with the
district's teachers and the SWBOCES Lower Hudson Regional Information
Center.

In
February 2002, John
F. Kennedy Magnet School, Port Chester, NY launched an innovative
extended day program titled LANGUAGE, LITERACY, and SUCCESS. Lou
Cuglietto, Principal of JFK describes the program as "a Bilingual
EXCEL Program addressing three goals of our overall school program:
parent involvement, early English acquisition for our English Language
Learners (ELL) children, and using technology to deliver our curriculum".
