4th Annual Conference On Best Practices Using Data
The burgeoning field of using data to enhance curriculum, planning, instruction and test scores was the focus of the "4th Annual Conference on Best Practices Using Data," held at the Crowne Plaza on November 2nd.
Approximately 250 administrators, educators and technology professionals attended the event, which was co-sponsored by the Putnam/Northern Westchester , Southern , Rockland and Dutchess Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in conjunction with the Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents.
The day started with a keynote address by Nancy Love, National Consultant/Project Director and Principal Investigator of the Using Data Project at the Eisenhower Regional Alliance at TERC. Her presentation on Collaborative Inquiry: Moving Schools from Resignation to Success set the theme for the day. Participants then had the opportunity to attend two 45-minute sessions that focused on managing or using data at the district, building, or classroom level.
The day finished with a panel discussion. The panel, consisting of state and local representatives, presented on the topic of connecting the management of data to the New York State and local assessment systems. The presentations that were used during this session are available below.
This very successful event was coordinated by Marla Gardner, Director of the Curriculum Center at P/NW BOCES, Carol Ross, coordinator of the Leadership Academy and Judy Powers, the Center's curriculum/staff developer.
