General Search Engines and Directories:

Technorati - A search engine for blogs and other "citizen media". It searches and organizes blogs and the other forms of independent, user-generated content (photos, videos, voting, etc.)

Radio Locator - A comprehensive radio station search engine with links to over 10,000 radio station web pages and over 2500 audio streams from radio stations in the U.S. and around the world.

Clusty - A clustering Metasearch engine using document clustering technology, automatically organizing documents into groups or clusters, generating an ordered list based on comparative ranking.

Teoma - A new search engine which uses Subject-Specific Popularity to determine the quality of a site's content. It also identifies expert resources about the subject of the search.

Google - One of the best, delivers the most relevant search results very fast and usually on the first couple of pages. No advertisements.

AltaVista - A great search engine and directory all in one. Extras include media searches (sound, images, etc.) and a translation service.

Yahoo - Organized by subject categories, an image search and Yahoo search engines in many foreign languages are also available.

About - Organized into useful subject guides, with organized links in over 700 GuideSites. A subject expert maintains each guide and gives advice and guidance. Use the Shortcut Tool to create a single page allowing you to view your favorite About GuideSites on a single page. Also provides a forum for newsletters, discussions & chats.

Awesome Library - Thousands of sites organized and classified into a searchable directory for teachers, students and parents.

Great Websites for Kids - Excellent websites for children chosen by librarians from ALA.

NetNanny - Family-friendly search engine and directory provides kid safe Web sites.

CyberSleuth Kids - An Internet search guide to help K-12 students sift through the maze of information on the Net.

DMOZ - Kids and Teens Open Directory - channels kids and teens appropriate web sites into a targeted directory.

Awesome Library for Kids - Reviewed sites divided into school subjects and sites of general interest.

Enchanted Learning - A search engine for elementary students.

KidsClick - A collection of sites for kids, grades K-7, chosen by professional librarians.

Ask Jeeves for Kids - Natural language search tool, no directory browsing. Database includes hundreds of preselected sites. Pull down menu displays search results. Locate quick answers to common questions. There is also a study tools reference section.

Yahooligans - A directory of preselected sites for kids. Other resources include an Almanac, Teacher's Guide and Cool Sites of the Week.
