Polar Bears - From the Center for Biological Diversity comes the warning that Polar Bears may become extinct due to Global warming. It filed a scientific Petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the polar bear as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act in Feb., 2005. On this site you can keep up to date with the status of that petition.

• Students begin collecting current news stories regarding Polar Bear status. Ex. Polar Bears to be Protected Under Endangered Species Act 12/27/06 , Judgement Day Set for Polar Bears , The Independent UK
  

• Divide class into collaborative groups to develop a Polar Bear FAQ.

• The class will brainstorm and develop an action plan to investigate ways to help. (use Inspiration or another graphic organizer tool) Ex. Take Action , WWF Giving Center
