Description (January 2, 2006)

Food Force - Food Force is a new educational video game presented by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
The project has been developed specifically to help children learn about the fight against world hunger. Food Force is available as a free Internet download and is the first humanitarian educational video game on the subject of world hunger and the work that
goes into feeding people. The game is designed for children between 8 and 13 years of age.

Curriculum Integration

  • Video Games that lead players through simulations of real-life events are becoming more prevalent. They rely on strategy and historical re-creations. Players can set up their own scenarios, based on their own situation on the ground, and experiment with different nonviolent strategies. Download free or purchase games for the class. Have students design and storyboard a game of an event of importance to them.
  • Play Madrid & 9/12 at NewsGaming.com
  • Play Peter Packet a game that invites students to help Peter fight global poverty over the Internet.
  • Play UNICEF World Heroes game.
