Timeline of Art History from the New York Metrolpolitan Museum of Art, is a chronological, geographicsl, and thematic exploration of the history of art from around the world. Art works in the museum's collection are highlighted from pre-history to the present. Historical background information, key events and resource links, from within the MET's collection and on the Internet, are given for the objects and eras in the timeline. This is a really well done site - go view it and then go to the MET.

Classroom Integration

• Tap into the timeline during world cultures studies. Have students create a virtual museum of artifacts of the period being studied.
  
  
• Create a Knowledge Hunt to help students review for the Global Studies Regents exam. In what French cave were paintings found? What do we learn about Paleolithic humans from them?
