Digital Library for Earth System Education - The Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE) is a collaborative site involving educators, students, and scientists working together to improve the teaching and learning about the Earth system at all levels. At this site you will find access to a rich repository of educational resources as well as the tools and interfaces that enable their effective use in educational settings. The site makes available electronic materials such as lesson plans, maps, images, data sets, visualizations, assessment activities, curriculum, online courses, collaborative networks and much more.

Site in Depth / Curriculum Integration

  • Investigate the section For Educators which has collections specifically designed for K-12, information on National Science and Geography Standards, and suggestions for optimizing use of DLESE resources in K-12 environments.
  • Investigate the resources in Browsing Earth concepts to find classroom resources to help teach a concept, such as Plate Tectonics, Gravity, Flow of Ecosystems, States of Matter, Weather, and more with associated education standards.
  • Using Data in the Classroom is a collection of links to on-line activities for teaching concepts with data and has examples that describe ways in which on-line, published, and student-collected data are currently used in teaching and learning.
  • Read the Guide to Searching the Library
