Integration
- Support literacy skills by connecting your students and their
interest in baseball with reading for information on the site.
- Read about Baseball
History in this section. Students further research a player
and record the information on a graphic organizer to post in the
classroom.
- Bring in newspaper and magazine articles about current baseball
players to compare to past players.
- Explore the history of women in baseball. Read The
Diamond Dreams and then research women's role in baseball
in depth.
- Dressed
to the Nines is a fascinating history of baseball uniforms.
- Use the section Baseball
as America, as a starting point to investigate cultural impact
baseball has had. Students can take surveys of how fans identify
with their teams, interview and take oral histories of fans' recollections,
etc.
- Baseball was part of popular culture as early as the 1860s,
celebrated in song, story, and art. Students research and create
presentations to share aspects of baseball in our culture.

on First".
