ABOUT MODEL SCHOOLS

Service Description: Model Schools Base Service
Service Activity Code: 554.100

The LHRIC Model Schools team is proactive in investigating and delivering programs, services and products that extend content beyond classroom walls. Our commitment to our member districts is to address regional educational issues, research-driven practices relating to transforming education, diversity in learning styles and student populations, and teacher excellence.

During the past year, the Model Schools team partnered with 53 districts to transform education for students and teachers through technology. Collaboration with districts was instrumental in the rollout of new services and continued support of existing services that enable districts to:

  • Overcome limitations of the traditional classroom
  • Gain exposure to new and emerging instructional technology trends
  • Envision the highest possible good for school improvement
  • Tailor instruction to the learning needs of students
  • Make full community involvement possible
  • Simplify the lives of staff and students
  • Make informed decisions around teaching and learning
  • Transform and not merely enhance education

What is the Model Schools Consortium?

Model Schools is a cooperative regional service that seeks to improve student learning, create motivated, responsible learners, and achieve classroom equity through the use of technology. Participation in the program enables districts to:

  • Assist teachers and other decision-makers to identify and implement new software, digital content, and emerging technologies.
  • Help teachers recover time in the classroom to do what matters most - engage 100% with their students; and wherever possible, to simplify their jobs.
  • Expose students to content that will empower them to learn in new ways.
  • Extend the limited resources of school districts by sharing and collaborating with others.
  • Experience a new level of invigoration with instructional technology and all that it promises.

Offered to school districts as a member-driven service, the program's primary mission is to support districts in their mission to improve student learning.

The core commitment of LHRIC Model Schools is framed around this key question:

What is best for students?
