A cornerstone practice of successful technology
integration programs is the selection of software and technologies
that are correlated with specific learning objectives. The basis
of the Common Learning Objectives (CLO), a key element of the instructional
technology COSER, meets the sharing requirements for school districts
to qualify for aid on software and instructional technology purchases.
In the LHRIC region, CLO requirements can be met by active participation
in the Model Schools Program. The prerequisite for participation
is the existence of a district-wide strategic plan for instructional
technology. The output of CLO is a list of regionally approved software
titles. Participation in the activity streamlines the labor- intensive
process of selecting software to meet instructional goals and exemplifies
the spirit of regional sharing of knowledge.
If you have identified the learning objectives for your instructional
technology implementation then consider the titles on the approved
list. If you determine that no title meets those requirements then
contact your Model Schools representative and request that a CLO
session be scheduled. Please allow sufficient lead-time in coordinating
your district work with this regional activity.
If your district wishes assistance in the development
of the prerequisite teaching and learning plan for instructional
technology, please contact Leslie Accardo at laccardo@lhric.org.
