The LHRIC offers a cost-effective, user-friendly videoconferencing service. Instructional videoconferencing provides students and teachers new opportunities for authentic learning and a means to differentiate instruction. Videoconferencing can facilitate: collaborative projects with other schools, virtual field trips to museums, cultural institutions, and educational institutions around the world, guest lecturers, staff development, demonstrations, and simulations/role playing.

The service includes quality control, help desk support, web access to resources, user meetings, and an electronic forum. This innovative service is supplemented by professional development and consulting services to ensure that districts make strategic and instructionally sound use of this exciting technology. The LHRIC will look to develop professional development offerings with our BOCES partners, as well as other providers. Technically, the service will be IP-based videoconferencing with a centrally managed firewall. Bridging and gateway services enable IP to ISDN videoconferencing connectivity to various ISDN-based districts and worldwide content providers and multi-point conferences.
