PROJECT:
Ardsley Schools
DESCRIPTION: Ardsley School District came to the LHRIC for assistance in redesigning their district and school sites. They needed a site that would allow for frequent updates without knowing HTML and templates that could be easily manipulated by a trained team of webmasters. The district also wanted a site that would have a consistent look and feel but still allow for individuality at the building level. Consulting with the Ardsley team, the LHRIC created the design, layout and navigation for the site, the eTool announcement application and also created templates that could be used to update the site by the trained building web masters.
CHALLENGE:

Designing a consistent look for the entire District's site that would include a web content management tool that each building could use to maintain timely information.

PROJECT:
Putnam Valley School District
DESCRIPTION: The Putnam Valley School District had asked for a complete reconstruction of their site for the district and their schools along with dynamic calendars that could be updated by building secretaries who did not know html. The LHRIC worked in conjunction with the District Assistant Superintendent in launching the site in less than 10 weeks. Currently the district has complete control of the website and maintains all of the information.
CHALLENGE: The district wanted every school site to be displayed in an esthetically pleasing manner with some consistency to design.

PROJECT:
SWBOCES Career Services
DESCRIPTION: Career Services had created a static CD ROM for students that might be interested in attending classes at the center. However, they recognized the need for a more universal presence on the web where students and parents and schools could learn more about the education they provide. LHRIC worked with Career Services and SWBOCES Publication Department in building a site that would not only attract key District personnel, but would also be esthetically pleasing and inviting to middle and high school students.
CHALLENGE: Providing content that was designed in a manner that would inform district administrators, parents and students.

PROJECT:
Hawthorne Cedar Knolls
DESCRIPTION: Hawthorne Cedar Knolls came to the LHRIC for assistance in redesigning their district and school sites. They needed a site that would allow for frequent updates without knowing HTML and templates that could be easily manipulated by a trained team of webmasters. Consulting with the team, the LHRIC created the design, templates and the web-based calendar e-tool for them. The LHRIC maintains the District site and has trained the webmaster in each building on how to maintain the site with the templates.
CHALLENGE: Designing a consistent look for the entire District's site that would include a web content management tool that each building could use to maintain timely information.

PROJECT:
Southern Westchester BOCES
DESCRIPTION: Southern Westchester BOCES needed a user-friendly layout that would organize all of the departments that make up this consortium. We helped in developing the navigation, functionality, as well as the new look.
CHALLENGE: Incorporating all of the centers that are affiliated with SWBOCES into one cohesive site and providing dynamic elements that would enhance rather than detract from the information provided.

PROJECT:
Southern Westchester BOCES - Center for Interscholastic Athletics - Section 1
DESCRIPTION: This center needed a website that would provide timely information concerning games, tournaments, directions to schools, officials information and a secure Intranet area for Athletic Directors. The LHRIC fulfilled all of these requests and since this partnership 4 years ago, we have added a private virtual area for Athletic Directors to:
  • Communicate online via a discussion board
  • Download electronic forms
  • Post coaching opportunities to a LHRIC made eTool application
  • CHALLENGE: Providing a secure Intranet for Athletic Directors to use on a daily basis.
    FUTURE
    DEVELOPMENTS:
Electronic forms that can be completed online by Athletic Directors and sent to SWBOCES Athletics department. This will save time and money for all involved in this process.

    PROJECT:
    Mount Vernon City School District
DESCRIPTION: Mount Vernon City School District had asked for a complete construction of their site for the district and their 15 schools. Administrators, teachers, parents and the LHRIC worked together to create a web presence for the community in less than 6 weeks.
CHALLENGE: The district wanted every school to be displayed in a pleasing manner on the home page. The school district has 11 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 2 high schools.

    PROJECT:
Mahopac Central School District - Technology Survival Guide
DESCRIPTION: The LHRIC web development team and the Model Schools consultants were asked to create a professional online resource guide for its teachers. The district needed an efficient way of sharing with its staff all of the changes to the network that had happened while they were away for the summer and the web was the best medium for the dilemma.
CHALLENGE: To take "basic textbook information" and make it legible and easy to understand for the web.

    PROJECT:
Adult Education - English Literacy and Civics Education
DESCRIPTION: This site offers thematic based lessons to teachers of non-English adult learners. Along with the lessons the teachers can find both text and web resources to support their efforts.
    CHALLENGE:

Providing a design that would reflect the diverse culture we live in.

    PROJECT:
    Electronic Resources
DESCRIPTION: The Electronic Resources service is a website portal that offers carefully selected Internet resources to users of the LHRIC website and subscription databases and detailed resources and professional development to member districts. In the fall of 2002 ER went from a listing of web resources to a searchable e-Tools database with highlights to materials in the electronic databases. The web design reflects a more efficient way of finding this information.
CHALLENGE: ER has many valuable resources for their users; the challenge is in finding a way for the various educators to "search" for a resource using multiple queries.

    PROJECT:
SWBOCES Center for Instructional Support and Technology
DESCRIPTION: Center for Instructional Support and Technology launched their new site September 1st 2001. Not only did the LHRIC build multiple pages for the 12 different departments, we also built a web-enabled calendar that allows them to highlight the latest courses and workshops going on at the center. The LHRIC also works with the directors on maintenance and updates to the home page and courses section of the site.
CHALLENGE: Incorporating 12 departments on their home page and updating the COURSES section of the site that involves over 100 different workshops.
    NEW THIS
    YEAR:
In the password protected Advisory Council section, assistant superintendents are able to communicate via the web using a web based bulletin board that the LHRIC has integrated into the suite of e-Tools.
